Tissues are quickly harvested (within 5-10 min) and prepared for embedding in
paraffin for microtome sectioning or in O.C.T frozen Medium for cryostat sectioning. Tissues for paraffin sections are fixed in 10% neutral buffered
formalin while tissues for frozen sections are snapped frozen in OCT without
any fixative. Tissues are sectioned at a thickness of
5-7microns (paraffin sections) or 7-10 microns (frozen sections) and mounted on slides treated for adhesion
(2-4 sections per slide).
Paraffin and Frozen tissue sections are prepared in RNase- and DNase-free
environment and are ideal for immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization.
